Coulter's Matilija Poppy - Romneya coulteri

One of California's most striking perennial plants, with large flowers that looks like a fried egg. Matilija poppy grows fast, 6 - 10 ft fall and spreads aggressively. It thrives in well-drained soils with little summer water. Has sensitive roots, don't disturb while planting. Cut it down to the ground in the fall for fresh spring growth - perfect for slopes! Use a shovel and dig out rhizomatic shoots to control the spread.
